A Rich Heritage
The Dermal Tharavadu Temple, with its deep-rooted antiquity, has recently undergone a transformation. The original temple, which stood as a beacon of devotion, was carefully demolished, and a new structure has been built.
Inside the temple, visitors can witness the grandeur of various deities and theyyams, including Puthiya Bhagavati, Vishnumurthi, Kandanar Kalan, Thondachchan, Kudiveeran, Kurathiamma, Kundorchamundi, and Gulikan.
Annual Festivities
The temple comes alive each year during the Kaliyattam festival?, held on the 3rd, 4th, and 5th days of Makaram (the Malayalam month).
The festival begins with the Ganapathi Homam on the morning of the 3rd day, ushering in a spiritual aura of blessing and prosperity.
On the evening of the second day, at 4 PM, the mesmerizing Kaliyattam performances begin, continuing through the third day, culminating with the revered Araadi Kala in the evening.
These festivities bring together devotees in celebration, prayer, and spiritual renewal.

Rituals and Offerings
One of the unique rituals of the temple is Kettiyadam, performed as a prayer for Shree Muthappan, with the presence of Gulikan offering protection and blessings.
The foundation of the deities was laid by the temple priest under the leadership of the revered Karanavanmar (the elders of the family), ensuring the preservation of divine sanctity for generations to come.
During the Kaliyattam and Pathamudayam rituals, the temple offers Annadanam (free meals) to all devotees, making sure that the spirit of sharing and hospitality is upheld.
This gesture of love and community service is one of the temple's cherished traditions, ensuring that no one goes hungry during their visit.
